SWGA District Womens Clinic - Barwon Heads Golf Club

The Annual SWGA District Clinic was held on Friday July 1 on a cold but otherwise lovely winters day. Attendees with handicaps ranging from 24 to 54 came from 18 clubs across the district.

It was a long day, but the participants stayed strong.

The Pros, as organized by Jess Bramble, were great. Tom Jeffries from the Sands- new head pro- was on the driving range showing us how to hit low shots into the wind. Jess Bramble from Barwon Heads taught us all the chip shot using a sand wedge, then 7 iron and her fave the hybrid putt. Laurie Chew was her usual best on the par 3 pitching, Josh Lancaster with the “Rocky” theme playing in the background had every putting tool in the shed And Dan “the man” Materazzo from Clifton Springs showed us how to “woosh” that ball out of the sand.

All were sustained by a rest and soup and sandwich for lunch and then back at it again for the final stretch before heading home at 3pm.

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
Many thanks to the those who assisted in making the day a success:
Vicky Carnie, Pink Group and Blue Group leaders Anne Martin and Sally Ludlow, and Pro Assistants Kathy Naoumidis, Alicia Clarke, Jackie McDonald and Anna Jamieson, as well as those on the South Western District Committee- Fiona Scott, Georgie Sanders, Ange Foote and Wendy Tottenham.
