Alec Calvert Junior Tournament

On the first weekend of the school holidays (Sunday 26th June – Tuesday 28th June), a large contingent of our juniors from the SWGA travelled down to Port Fairy and Warrnambool to compete in the Alec Culvert Junior Tournament at Port Fairy and the Sungold Milk Junior open at Warrnambool.

Our juniors performed extremely well with some outstanding results.

At Port Fairy the overall boys gross was won by Ted Sargent from the Geelong golf club. Ted to out the tournament in a 4 way playoff. Jacob Young from Clifton Spring won the Boys Stableford event and Daisy Biscan also from Clifton Springs won the Girls Stableford Event.

At Warrnambool, Paige Moorfoot from Curlewis won the U15 Girls stroke event. Sophie Johnson from Clifton Strings won the Girls Stableford and Isaac Schammer from Curlewis won Boys Stableford.

These events were very well supported by our juniors with over 20 juniors making the trip down the highway to compete in the events.

RESULTS

Geelong G.C member Edward Sargeant won the Alec Calvert Junior Tournament at Port Fairy with a score of 77, then played 3 others including Louis Van Ingen (Geelong GC) in a 4-way playoff, with all 4 boys coming down the 3rd hole still tied, then after a precise shot in to the flag, he was the only one to birdie the hole and take the trophy. Quite exciting for the gallery of onlookers.
