Togni and Bowers Claim Men's Foursomes Championship in Tight Finish

The annual Foursomes Championship was contested over 36 holes today at Curlewis Golf Club, with players treated to perfect weather and a course in superb condition. While the fairways were generous, the slick and undulating greens kept the field honest, testing even the most experienced pairs.

In the Nett Division, it was a battle right to the end. The Barwon Valley Golf Club pairing of Christian Rogers and Matthew Hay held their nerve to post a winning 36-hole nett score of 146, edging out the competition in a tight finish.

The Gross Championship delivered plenty of drama across both rounds. In the morning, David Foster and Tommi Wesley set the pace with an impressive one-under-par opening round, giving them a two-shot lead over Cam Bowers and Noah Schammer. However, the afternoon session proved much more demanding, as both leading pairs faltered in tricky conditions.

The door was opened for a number of contenders. Alex Barnes and Angus McKoy surged into the lead with several holes remaining, only to suffer three consecutive bogeys down the stretch, eventually slipping back into a share of fourth place.

Consistency paid off for Nick Welsh and Caleb Perry, who carded steady rounds of 76 and 74 to finish tied for second alongside the Foster/Wesley combination on 150.

But the day belonged to Hunter Togni and Ben Bowers, who mounted a stunning comeback. Starting the afternoon several shots adrift, the duo produced a composed final round to edge clear and claim victory by a single shot, finishing on a total of 149.

It was a fitting conclusion to a championship that showcased both resilience and quality golf, with the Curlewis layout once again proving to be a worthy test of foursomes play.
