SWGA Women’s Foursomes Championship Wrap

A good quality field of 36 pairs teed off to contest the SWGA Women’s Foursomes Championship & the Mandy Buckley Salver on a calm & sunny Spring day at Colac Golf Course.

Colac was presented well, as challenging as always with luscious fairways & extra luscious rough not conceding any extra run for players. The greens were true, fast & sometimes defying the eyes as the roll of the ball was influenced by the magnetism of Lake Colac.

Foursomes stroke play was a real test for the best of the South West even in today’s benign weather conditions.

2023 winners of the coveted Mandy Buckley Salver were the Torquay legend herself Mandy & newly returned to golf Sarah Jenkins, also from Torquay whose gross score of 88 was unbeaten on the day.

Winners of the Foursomes Nett Plate was Apollo Bay’s Stacey Thomas & Helen Stephens (look out Vicki Hannah) with a terrific nett score of 75.

Thank you to the hospitality of Colac’s women’s committee for catering & office assistance & the grounds staff who worked hard to make the day an enjoyable & successful golfing event for SWGA.

The team to represent SWGA at Country Teams was also announced by Women’s Manager Ann Lynch today. The enthusiastic group of players & support crew will head to Gippsland for the competition on Sept 25th,26th &27th.
