2022 Junior Pennant Final
The final of the 2022 SWGA junior pennant season was played at Curlewis on Sunday with Curlewis and Portarlington competition for the Ford Cup.
Curlewis finished on top of their section to take out the Westerveld Shield and Portarlington taking out their section and winning the Trevenen Shield. Portarlington in particular was an outstanding effort after their first round match being declared a draw due to both their course and Barwon Valley’s course being unplayable due to flooding.
Once again after heavy overnight rain the Curlewis course was very wet. However course staff did a great job to get the course playable.
After the first 3 matches were completed Portarlington held a 2-1 lead. Matches 4 and 5 were both all square standing on the 18th tee and it was looking as if extra holes were on the cards. However in the 4th match Portarlington’s Will English holed a nice par putt to secure the Ford Cup for Portarlington. The fifth match finished all square and the end result was a 3 ½ - 1 ½ win to Portarlington.
Thanks to all team managers, supporters and players for a very successful 2022 junior pennant season.
