Hello to all golfers in South Western District
The year has started for our District with much enthusiasm from your Board.
I want all to know that we are working to make events relevant to all levels of golfers and therefore there may be some changes in future events. It is an ongoing issue finding courses to host some events.

Events
Womens Irish 4 Ball at Anglesea was well supported with a full field and some great golf and fun had by all. Our raffle on the day raised over $400 which will go to our partnership with Geelong Community Foundation sub fund.
The Betty Kernot Knockout Foursomes has been played in good spirit at Queenscliff with Lonsdale Links winning Division 1 and Apollo Bay taking out Division 2. Full report under Womens Events.
Womens Veterans Championships is around the corner Monday 7th April at Barwon Valley so if you are over 60 years get your entry in.
Pennant Season is upon us, and I would recommend any interested golfer to go watch and support your club’s teams. The fixture is on the website. I wish everyone good luck.
Juniors
Already there has been 2 Junior events Colac and Geelong Golf Club. Both well supported and it is fantastic to see so many juniors in our District enjoying themselves. The Portarlington Junior Tournament Monday 14th April is their next event.
Junior Girls Camp at Tocumwal is on again in April and we are looking for 6 juniors new to golf with or without a handicap to enjoy this popular 3 day camp. Please contact me for further information.
We are very conscious of safeguarding our children and young adults and have adopted the National Integrity Framework Child Safety Policy information from GA. It is important to note written parental/guardian consent is necessary for any imaging or capturing video footage.
GA Event terms and conditions have included image consent as part of their entry form for junior tournaments.
Our website Resource page is in reviewing stage and will contain all this information.
GA / GV District Review
We are very involved with the GA /GV district review. GV has accepted the updated Terms of Reference as developed by the District Working Group and the next steps are to set up the Review panel and finalise the inclusion of an independent role to support the review. All district representatives are involved in a virtual meeting following the GV Board meetings. Two way communication is important to us all and I feel confident that with this involvement we have a voice in any decision making.
SWGA GRANTS PROGRAM
SWGA Grants round 1 for 2025 opens 1st April. Grants up to $5000 can be applied for. See criteria and process under website Resource. All clubs have an opportunity to apply for special project funding.
Our new constitution passed at SGM in November has been accepted by Consumer Affairs Victoria and will shortly be published on the website along with reviewed policies and updated conditions.
Finally, if you would like to get involved with your District and help us stay strong and inclusive to all golfers we have a casual vacancy on our board.
