2025 Order of Merit Rap

The SWGA has concluded its 2025 competition.

This is an important event on the SWGA calendar because it runs across the year & is hosted by many clubs in the district.

The SWGA has contributed over $ 2000.00 in prize money to reward those players who earn the most Merit points for playing in open tournaments and the SWGA Championships.

2025 Order of Merit Winners -Women

Thanks go to Vicki Hannah for chasing up results & maintaining the merit table for the busy Womens schedule which also includes challenge bowls.  

Stableford – 85 players earnt points for the year

  • Sharon Cresswell (Ocean Grove GC) 22 points – 6 events

Nett – 45 players earnt points for the year.

  • Christine Angus (Lorne GC) 9 points - 2 events.

Gross – 37 players earnt points for the year.

  • Lesley Richardson (Inverleigh GC) 22 points - 7 events.

The 2026 Women’s OOM season commences at Clifton Springs Friday 6th February for their Women’s Open & Challenge Bowl.

2025 Order of Merit Winners -Men

The Mens Order of Merit was resurrected this year with records being maintained by Ian Wiseman.  Thanks to Ian for not only chasing results but being so active on the OOM scene.

This year, as an added incentive for Men to participate in this event was introduced where the winner of the Gross will also receive entry to the 2026 Riversdale Cup, a very prestigious Amateur state event.

Order of Merit Winners - Men

Gross – 103 players earnt points for the year

  • Ian Wiseman (Geelong GC) 42 points – 8 events
  • Simon Trickey (Lorne GC) 32 points
  • Alexander Barnes (13th Beach GC) 30

Nett –116 players earnt points this year

  • Nic Phipps (East Geelong GC) 23. - 4 events
  • David Cummins (Barwon Valley GC) 16 points.
  • Luke Ryan (East Geelong GC) 14 points.

To add more hype to this men’s event, the next season will culminate at the SWGA Championships in July 2027 where double points are on offer.

Rather than have a condensed season which would only include 7 club opens, the 2026 season will extend into 2027 meaning some clubs opens & the SWGA Championships will be counted twice however will include all clubs OOM events.

Post July 2027, the Mens OOM will return to a 12 month competition.

The next OOM events are:

  • Clifton Springs GC - Sat January 7th 2026
  • Geelong GC - Sun January 8th 2026
