Clifton Springs Golf club Empower Games
Clifton Springs are one of our recipients of the recent Grants Program. Dan Materazzo their professional has been conducting Empower group program for the past 2 years. The introductory golf program has been designed to accommodate the needs and abilities of the students with physical, sensory and intellectual disability, that are not normally catered for in conventional golf.
The program runs for 8 weeks each term of pre games tuition ending with 4-hole Ambrose competition with their carers and presentations.
SWGA Board felt a student sponsorship was appropriate and I was fortunate to meet our student Chris and his carer recently. This will be Chris’ 3rd year, and he has set a goal of gaining a handicap and to be eligible for the Special Olympics 2026.
Watching a session and with Dans enthusiasm there was much fun and laughter and a definite competitive streak amongst the students.
